The Venue
The wedding ceremony and reception will be held at Brobury House, which is west of Hereford http://www.broburyhouse.co.uk
The venue has beautiful gardens with the River Wye running through them. Most of the wedding will be inside the conservatory, dancing will be in a marquee and a picnic on blankets on the grass (weather permitting) this is to help the ladies work out footwear and cardie options!
Please note - any smokers out there - Brobury House and grounds are strictly non-smoking (something to do with the beautiful gardens not becoming a receptacle for spent fag ends), but we should be able to arrange a designated smoking area, possibly in the car park.
Accommodation
Hereford is around 10 miles away from Brobury House and there are two Travelodges (Hereford and Grafton) as well as other accommodation options in town. We have encouraged everyone to stay at one of the Travelodges to make taxis home shareable. There are also some country pubs. By far the easiest thing to do is to search the web - the venue postcode is HR3 6BS. Similarly, there are a number of taxi firms operating in Hereford who have an online presence. You can park at the venue overnight if that’s easier for you - there’s lots of parking.
Let us know if you need to taxi-share and we can try to hook you up with other people.
The Day
The ceremony will be at 2pm July 1st. The gardens are very nice to wander around so it might be a good idea to arrive at around 1.30-1.45pm. There is a pub nearby - http://www.redlion-hotel.com but allow time to walk to the venue if you are planning a pre-wedding drink - it’s not that nearby...
The short ceremony will be followed by nibbles and sparkly to keep you busy while photographs are taken. Speeches and the picnic will start around 4pm and there’ll be a hog roast at around 7pm, followed by the best cheesy music disco in the history of the world (Donna is hand-selecting every track!). There will be plenty of booze, no bar but we’ll have more than enough. There will be fizz, wine, beer, soft drinks and plenty of water. If you fancy anything else then feel free to bring it along and pop it in one of the ice buckets that will be around.
We suggest booking taxis for midnight (you’ll miss good stuff if you go earlier...)
